Obituary

Norma Joan Ganley, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

Norma was one of four children of Norman and Mary McConnell. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She met Edward Ganley, the love of her life, when both of their families lived on the same block in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. They married in Philadelphia where they lived for several years before moving to Abington, PA to raise their four children. They lived there until they retired to Mays Landing, NJ. Norma absolutely loved the shore and was so happy to make a new home there. In 2017, Norma moved back to PA to be near her children and grandchildren and spent her final months making new friends, playing bingo, participating in fantasy football and staying active at Blue Bell Place in Blue Bell PA.
Norma loved staying home to raise her children and when they were old enough Norma went back to work where she spent a long career at Dermik Laboratories, as the Executive Assistant to the VP of Research. Anyone that met Norma immediately fell in love with her and she touched many people there until she retired.
While Norma enjoyed working, her true love was her family. She adored her children and her husband, Ed and her four grandchildren brought her so much joy. Norma was respected and loved by so many and her faith and strength of character was demonstrated in everything she did. In her final years, she revealed her wonderful sense of humor and sharp wit and throughout her last days she made her family laugh during the most difficult of times.
Norma is survived by her four children:  Terry Ganley Raymond, Edward Ganley and his wife, Stephanie, Joanne Muehlberger and her husband Bill, and Mary Beth Ganley; her four grandchildren:  Christopher Raymond, Matthew Raymond, Michael Muehlberger, and Billy Muehlberger; her eight nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents, Norman and Mary McConnell, her brother, Gerald McConnell, her sister, Sr. Irene Regina IHM and her brother, James McConnell.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Norma’s life at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 321 Witmer Road, Horsham PA 19044 on Friday, November 22. Family and friends are invited to gather at 10:00 AM followed by a celebratory Mass at 11:00 AM.  Norma will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Norma Ganley may be made to Abington Health Foundation / Heart of Healthcare Nursing – Abington - Jefferson, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001 or online at to https://giving.jefferson.edu/abington-health-foundation/support-ahf.html#.Xc7vU6aWyUk.
