Marion Wilma Golemis (née Breitwieser) passed away on March 20th, 2020, in Abington, Pennsylvania at the age of 86. Marion was born in New York City, New York, in 1933, to Henry and Marie Breitwieser. She attended the New York High School of Music and Art, and graduated from Pratt Institute in New York in 1955, with a Bachelor degree in Architecture. In December, 1954, she married Emanuel Golemis; after their marriage, she moved with him for several years to Korea and Japan, while he completed his military obligation after going through college in ROTC. Supporting herself as a teacher of English as a second language, she developed a great love of Japanese and Korean culture, returning many times in later life to travel and visit friends. Upon return to New York City, she took a job at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, working in the Department of Aviation Engineering as an architectural engineer for over 40 years until her retirement in 2001. She contributed significantly to the design of New York area airports, including Idlewild (later JFK), Newark, La Guardia, and others. After her retirement, she volunteered for several years at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey. She was a lifelong member of the Dutch Reformed Church, and in late life volunteered as an ESL instructor to advance the career prospects of church members. She was an avid and skilled seamstress, a gardener, a devoted cat lady, and an eager traveler, visiting many sites around the world. She is survived by her husband, Emanuel Golemis; her daughter, Erica Golemis; and her grandson, Ian Ochs.
