Obituary

           

Helen R. Barnes of Warminster passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. She was 75.

Born in Philadelphia to Helen P. Barnes and the late Howard Louis Barnes she was raised in Elkins Park, Pa.

She was the loving mother of Susan Eck; grandmother of Michael and Heather Eck; sister of Louise Kelley, Virginia Barnes, and the late Charles Barnes; and sister-in-law of Mary Barnes. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

 

Helen attended St. James grade school in Elkins Park and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1959. She then attended Abington Hospital nursing school and Gwynedd Mercy College for her Nurse Practitioner license. She worked as a nurse at Abington Memorial Hospital and was the first ET nurse there. She also taught nursing at Abington School of Nursing.

She was an avid crocheter and traveler to Disney World.

Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in FitzPatrick Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington, where the family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 p.m.
