Obituary

William John Whalen, Jr, of Warrington, PA passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, he was 91. Born in Philadelphia to the late William John and Carolyn Mary (nee Keinast) Whalen. Devoted and loving partner to the late Dolores Morello. Dear brother to Richard J Whalen, Sr. Cherished uncle to Colleen Parkinson (Joe), Richard J Whalen, Jr (Patti), Carolyn Blanco (John), Rosemary Tucci (Joe), William Whalen (Renee), Christopher Whalen (Connie), Marie Lewis (Jamie), Patty Mathias (David), Joanne Morello (Nicholas Sakowsky), and many great and great great nieces and nephews. William was a longtime resident of Philadelphia, PA and Brigantine, NJ. He has lived in Warrington, PA for the past 6 years.

William was a proud graduate of St. Stephen's Catholic School, North Catholic High School and LaSalle University. He spent his career as a Contract Specialist for the US Government, working out of the Defense Personnel Support Center for 38 years before retiring in 1992. William was very devoted to his faith and the Roman Catholic Church. He was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus and was a lector at St. Thomas the Apostle in Brigantine and at St. Stephen's Church at Broad and Butler Sts. in Philadelphia. William had an extraordinary ability to recall even the smallest details, and took a true genuine interest in every one he met, never forgetting the details that made each person unique! A true gentleman and scholar, he possessed a lifelong passion for books, especially history and biographies. On special occasions he enjoyed a shaken not stirred martini.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday February 5, 2026, at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave. Warrington from 9:00 am until his funeral Mass at 10:00 am Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, 160 E Erie Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19134 would be appreciated by the family.
