Thomas (Tom) John Parsha was born January 18th, 1939 in Seward, Pennsylvania. Tom passed away on December 26th, 2024 at Holy Redeemer hospital of heart failure.

Tom grew up in Seward, one of six children. Later, he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he played both football and baseball.

Tom went on to play minor league baseball for a few years before beginning his teaching and coaching career at Bishop McCort (formerly Johnstown Catholic) High School.

Tom moved to Abington, Pennsylvania in 1963 to teach and coach. Tom coached both football and basketball for Abington High School.

Tom married his wife Alice in 1968, living together in Abington for the remainder of his life.

Tom taught science at Abington Junior High School and was the sponsor for the school's science club, also serving as a committee member for the state's science Olympiad. Tom retired after teaching for 39 years in Johnstown and Abington. He continued to actively participate in both the MCSTA and state science Olympiad after retiring.

Tom was well known for his humor and puns, with those who knew him always expecting to hear the latest joke. He enjoyed life and was very active volunteering in the community including coaching in the Roychester Park youth baseball league. He enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, playing the lottery, and watching all sports (especially the Eagles on Sundays). Tom was definitely a people person, and he enjoyed meeting new people and making friends.

Tom was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians in Abington.

Tom is survived by his wife Alice, sister Carole, three children, and six grandchildren.

Services and interment are private. The family will hold a memorial for Tom in the Spring.
