Robert Davine, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 10, 2024, surrounded by family at Rydal Park after several years of declining health.

He was born September 3, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA to Jack and Mary Davine and lived with his brother Jackie and nine other relatives in Germantown until moving with his nuclear family to the Frankford section of Philadelphia. A diligent worker all his life, he started his career by delivering groceries from the corner store for tips during elementary school. He attended North Catholic High School but due to his motivation to work, he never joined any school sports teams in high school, only playing organized sports in summer. Despite this, he finished in second place at a city-wide pitching velocity contest at Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium (where the Phillies and Athletics played) as a teenager. His running mates were often Tony Mullins, Clem D'Ambrosio, Mike Pimpinelli and Pat McGovern (who went to MIT and ended up on the Forbes 500 list later in life). He graduated from LaSalle College with a degree in industrial management and captained the golf team his senior year. He then spent two years in the Navy at Mayport Naval Air Station in Florida before a brief stint with Sun Oil Company, living in Brooklyn, NY.

He met his wife of 61 years, Rita Davine (nee Petetti) on the beach in Wildwood, NJ over a "dispute" regarding loud radio music. He started a long and successful career with Keller (later Herff Jones) Yearbooks in 1963 until his retirement in 2004, after being inducted to their Hall of Fame. He collaborated with numerous high schools and colleges including Princeton University and helped produce award-winning books with Villanova University. Rita served as his receptionist, scheduler and executive assistant during his work years. He raised his two sons, Robert Jr. and John, in the Lawndale section of Philadelphia and later Huntingdon Valley, PA, taking time to teach them sports and help with schoolwork despite a demanding work schedule.

In retirement, Bob and Rita enjoyed vacationing in Bermuda and visiting family in the Washington, D.C. and Chicagoland area. He was a lover of all animals, especially his dogs Duke, Moose, Frodo and granddogs Henry, Hubert, Harry, and Rex.

He is survived by his wife Rita (nee Petetti), sons Robert Jr. (Christine) and John (Kathleen), sister-in-law Vickie Davine, grandchildren Phillip, Emily, Jack, Emma, and Leah.

Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady Help of Christians Church,1500 Marian Rd. Abington on Saturday Dec 21. at 11:00 am where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 until Mass time.
