Robert Anton Cyliax , a longtime resident of Horsham, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024 surrounded by his family at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital. He was 99.
Born on January 8, 1925 in Quakertown, PA to the late Maximillian and Lidie (née Cramp) Cyliax. He graduated from Olney High School 1942 and went on to serve in the Navy during World War II as a First Class Aviation Radio Technician. He worked for A.W. Walker Company in Norristown as an Electrical Estimator and in his later years, until the age of 93, at Wells Technology in Ivyland.
Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 366 in Fox Chase and Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a passionate racing Enthusiast and loved his annual trips to the Indianapolis 500. He always enjoyed a fine glass of red wine and was equally dedicated to his daily crossword puzzles.
In addition to his love of racing, wine and crossword puzzles were his cherished trips to Wawa, where he would meet with his friends and share laughs, camaraderie and lifetime adventures. These gatherings were a testament to his sociable nature.
Robert is survived by his three children; Mark (MaryBeth) Cyliax, Curt (Sue) Cyliax, and Jennifer (Peter) Muehlbronner; six grandchildren, Scott, Elizabeth, Ali, Michael, Sam, and Kelly; and three great-grandchildren, Hudson, Chase, and Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine (nee Moran) Cyliax; and his three siblings, Martha, Margaret and Mike.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the George G. FitzPatrick Funeral Home located at 1500 Old York Road, Abington. A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 14th at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
