Michael Barbella passed away on Tuesday, September 26th, age 62. Born in Philadelphia, Michael was raised in Havertown, PA graduating from Monsignor Bonner High School. He also attended the University of the Arts earning a BA in Theater.

A resident of Abington for the past 25 years, he was predeceased by his mother Rose Barbella and is survived by his partner William, father Joseph of Havertown, brothers John and his wife Susan of West Chester and Joseph and his husband Timothy of Lewes, DE. He also was Uncle to Nicole and her husband Nehemiah, Rachel and husband Kevin, and Matthew and his wife Jacquie.

Michael had a very successful career with Barnes & Noble beginning in 1992 assistant manager of their Jenkintown location. He advanced quickly within the company, eventually opening several stores in NJ and PA. His most recent position was Store Manager of their Rittenhouse Square location in Center City.

An avid reader, he also had a very creative personality and enjoyed various hobbies including acting, playing guitar, and writing short stories.

Michael's friendly, outgoing personality drew people to him, and he will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives.
