Madeline (Midge) Lang, 88, of Abington, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2022.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 17, 1933, Madeline was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mary and Domenico Pietrinferno, her beloved husband Richard (Dick), and daughter-in-law Rosemarie.
Madeline and Dick met at a dance in Philadelphia, then married in 1957 and had three children, Richard D. (Joan), Jeanmarie (Dan), and David (Rosemary), and her grandchildren, Allison, Domenic, Margaret, Colleen, James, Thomas, Jesse and John Richard Lang, and Nathan and Natalie Broskley. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony Pietrinferno (Helen) and Jean Stabilito, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Madeline was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Germantown, and graduated from Germantown HS. She held many interesting jobs over the years, mostly working as a medical secretary until retiring at the age of 82. She started her working career at the Veterans Affairs in Philadelphia, where she made several lifelong friends. Madeline and Dick and the family enjoyed many vacations both domestic and abroad, and as a couple, they developed a special fondness for Bermuda.
Madeline enjoyed sharing her time and talents through volunteer work at her church and in her community. She served for many years counting the Sunday offerings at Our Lady Help of Christians in Abington, PA. She also served as President for the Gloria Day Farms Residence Association, as well as Bar Manager/Bartender there. She looked forward to serving at Friday Happy Hours. Friends and family would often come when Midge was tending bar.
Madeline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. Her greatest joy was making others happy. She thrived on giving of herself, most especially, sharing her culinary gifts. This included cooking many family feasts such as Sunday dinners, parties, cookouts, and showers. Every Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, Madeline and Dick would kick-off the summer by bringing family, friends and neighbors together for a barbeque like no other. After Dick's passing, she continued the tradition for many years until she sold her house in Abington. It's no coincidence that she left us on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
She went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. At Madeline's house, no one ever left hungry, in fact, most left with a care package! Throughout the years, she shared her love of cooking and baking with her grandchildren, who are now well prepared to carry on her many traditions.
Madeline was one-of-a-kind, a generous, kind, loving and strong woman, with a zest for life and a sense of humor which she kept till the very end. She will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass Friday 10 A.M. at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 1500 Marian Rd. Abington, PA where the family will receive guests from 9 A.M. until Mass time. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions in her memory to Doylestown Hospice, 4259 W.
