Lynne
Dery-Johnston
Sep 23, 1955 — Jun 4, 2025
With immense sorrow and deep love, we share that Lynne Dery Johnston passed away on June 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family just as she would have wanted.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1955 to Norman and Regina Dery, Lynne was the youngest daughter, growing up alongside her beloved sister Barbara. Her childhood years were spent mostly in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, where she formed lifelong friendships and fond memories. Lynne graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1974 where she met the love of her life, Raymond Johnston. She later earned her associate's degree from Montgomery County Community College.
Lynne embodied elegance, grace, and warmth. Her innate sense of style and love for decorating made her home a welcoming place. She was known for her generosity, her loyalty, and her steadfast devotion to those she loved. Lynne had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel seen, included, and deeply cared for. She never missed a moment, large or small, in the lives of her family and friends, and her presence made everyone feel loved.
She was the heart of her family: a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Lynne and Ray were high school sweethearts who shared nearly 45 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a close-knit family in Huntingdon Valley, and a life full of adoration, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Whether on the golf course, exploring new places on road trips, spending time with friends, or relaxing at their beloved home in Ocean City, New Jersey Lynne's happiest moments were always those shared with the people she loved.
Lynne was a fiercely proud and loving mother to her three daughters, Lauren, Melissa, and Tara. There was no event too small and no request too large she was always there with unwavering support and a radiant smile. Her love for her daughters was boundless and evident in every moment of their lives.
As a grandmother, lovingly known as "Gaga," Lynne found pure joy in the laughter and presence of her grandchildren: Avery, Olivia, Emma, Harper, and Landon. Her connection with them was profound and irreplaceable, and they will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Lynne is survived by her devoted husband Ray; daughters Lauren (Chad), Melissa (Mike), and Tara; her treasured grandchildren; her loving mother, Regina Dery, whose strength and unconditional love were lifelong inspirations; her sister Barbara Paul (late Anthony), with whom she shared an unbreakable bond; and many cherished nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Dery, who passed in 2018. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with him.
Lynne's legacy is one of love, elegance, and unwavering devotion. The depth of her impact is immeasurable, and she will be missed beyond words by all who were lucky enough to know her.
