Obituary

Eulogy

a devancés.

This morning. I was given the task to present to you

a mural portrait of my dear aunt Yane, stolen from

us. Some of you, may be begging the question, who

was Liliane Michel? Qui etait Yane pour les intimes?

The easiest way to satisfy your curiosity, would be

to tell you: What you saw, was who she was. Calm,

peaceful, elegant, introverted, compassionate,

trustworthy, sympathetic, smart, and above all a

wise people person. She was a woman of distinction,

very reserved, a woman of honor with high moral

values. She was a devoted Roman Catholic. Yane

didn't wear make up to shine. She was the essence of

beauty. If you were privileged enough to know her,

to get close to her, you could see and feel her inner

beauty, her love for simplicity, her respect for true

and genuine virtues, her devotion to serve and to

raise her children with love and high standards.

For more than 25 years, she worked day after day in

Haiti at the minister of National education for not

much. It was rather a labor of love. Despite

everything, she continued to perform her duty

religiously until she retired. The job she loved most

was raising children. She was a loving mother. She

raised not only her two biological children Fannie

and Jude. But also, seventeen other children. she

helped her darling companion Faine Montlouis care

for and educate. She prayed, cried, and advocated

for the sick, the weak, and the defenseless.

she was a woman of faith. Her grace, her

kindness, her sweetness was always present.

What I liked most about our departed Yane is

the fact that "she commended respect" Her

presence dictated that you better be on your

best behavior.

Throughout her long life, she behaved like she

was created for one man. She was only 35 years

old, when her loving partner passed. She never

got interested in any other man. She claimed

that she didn't have time for love. She was too

busy raising her children. After Faine

Montlouis passing, she dedicated herself in

cutting and polishing her two diamonds: Fannie

and Jude. She embraced her mono parental role

with passion and dedication. By God Grace, she

left us two completely independent adults, two

health care professionals, three grand

children: Doreen Pierre-Louis, Fabiola Pierre-

Louis, Tamika Pierre Louis, one great grand

child Avani Trinity Adams, her son in law

Lyonel Pierre Louis, and her prodigy Samuel

Laurent.

Her legacy is a master piece forged under fire.

Her passing could not stop that work of art.

We will not forget her love for life. We will

not forget her love for dancing to old Haitian

music. We will not forget her love for singing

gospel music. We will not forget her

contagious smile, her caring for the needy. We

will carry on, because like her we believe that

we can do all things through Christ who

strengthens us Philipians 4:13. She left each of

us enough lessons to live life to the fullest

with dignity, happiness and respect for all.
