Kay A. Sheils

Kay A. Sheils, of Rydal, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2026, with her devoted son, William Kramer, by her side. She was surrounded by love and the comfort of family in her final moments.

Kay was born in Slovenia on December 30th, 1933, to the late Maria and Franz Schager. Kay had to flee her home at the age of seven with her family and seek refuge in Austria following World War II. At 17 years of age, she immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, in search of new opportunities and a brighter future.

Kay initially settled in New York City, before moving to Long Island, where she began building a family and life defined by perseverance, courage, and determination. She then moved her family to Pennsylvania where she resided in Rydal, PA for most of her life. Though she left her homeland at a young age, Kay carried with her a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and the values that shaped the remarkable woman she became. Kay did not speak a word of English upon arrival to the U.S. but worked hard to make a new life and provide for her family, working as a waitress and restaurateur until she was eighty years young.

Kay was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Michael Sheils, and she was a devoted loving mother who will be missed by her five children: Russell Kramer and wife Connie, Steven Kramer, William Kramer and wife Lori, Richard Arnoldi, Ingrid Gauthier and husband George. Her greatest joy was her family, and she took immense pride in watching it grow through the generations.

She was a proud and cherished Oma to Russell Kramer, Ryan Kramer, Kyle Kramer, Kelsey Kramer, Sophia Arnoldi, Luca Arnoldi, Annika Gauthier, Anders Gauthier, and Astrid Gauthier. Her grandchildren will forever remember her love, warmth, wisdom, and the special bond she shared with each of them.

Kay will be remembered as a woman of quiet strength, unwavering resilience, and generous spirit. She had a kind heart, always was welcoming, and had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel loved. Whether it was through her thoughtful advice, caring nature, or the simple joy of gathering together for a family dinner, Kay blessed the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her love and devotion to her family were the foundation of her life, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who have had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will remain a lasting source of comfort, inspiration, and love.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday July 13th, 2026, from 9:30am to10:30am at George FitzPatrick Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington, Pennsylvania, where her Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 1pm at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
