Obituary

Joseph S. Mazzone, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at the age of 95. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Pasquale and Victoria (nee Spera) Mazzone. Uncle Joe, as everyone knew him, graduated from Northeast Catholic High School and then served in the Army in Europe during the Korean War Conflict. After the Army, he attended Florida Southern College and went on to earn dual master's degrees from George Peabody University (now part of Vanderbilt University). From Georgia to the Philadelphia area, he taught high school English and physical education. He was an accomplished baseball and football coach winning The Georgia Coach of the Year. After retiring from teaching, he went on to work for the United States Post Office.

He was the brother of the late Mildred Whitham, the late Anthony Mazzone and the late Angeline Daulerio. He was the uncle of Julie and John Whitham, Phil Daulerio, Jr., Gregory Daulerio, Rosemary Mazzone, Victoria Mazzone and the late Patrick Daulerio. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday at 10:00 am at FitzPatrick Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Rd. Abington where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow.
