Helen Brennan (Mom and Mimi), nee Ellis was born on September 8, 1929, and passed away peacefully at home, with loved ones by her side, on February 2, 2025.

Helen was a 1947 graduate of Frankford High School and worked as a secretary at Henry Disston and Sons, Inc. up until 1958 when, together with her husband Joe, they founded Brennan & Company. Helen and Joe successfully ran their own accounting firm until Joe's passing in 2004.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Brennan (2004) and her son Joseph Brennan (1974). Helen leaves behind her beloved family Charlene Brennan of Glenside, PA, Jane Knowles (James) of Southborough, MA, Gail Downing (Scott of Washington Crossing PA and her sister-in law Patricia Brennan of Philadelphia, PA.

She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Tyler, Jimmy, Caroline and Rebecca.

Helen was born and raised in Philadelphia and moved to Meadowbrook in 1965, where she enjoyed life in the suburbs for forty-nine years.

As a fifty-five-plus year parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Helen chaired countless events and served on many committees.

At Bishop McDevitt High School, she loved cheering on her children at their sporting events and organizing fashion shows and luncheons for the Mother's Guild.

Helen was a long-standing member of the Norristown Garden Club and Philadelphia Horticultural Society, winning many ribbons at both the Philadelphia Flower Show and Norristown Garden Club competitions.

She spent countless summers relaxing with family and friends in both Ocean City, New Jersey and Newport R.I

Helen had a genuine love of animals, having nursed Buddy (Knowles) back to health as a puppy and truly enjoying Wags' (Downing) sweet 16th birthday party.

Helen enjoyed donning her Phillies jersey and watching the team pull out a late inning win (with lots of trash talking along the way).

In 2014, Helen was back in Philadelphia, living at Cedar Views at the Villages at Pine Valley. In her ten years there, she thoroughly enjoyed her friends while playing canasta and bingo as well as attending Friday night socials and organized dinners.

In Helen's life well lived nothing surpassed the joy brought to her by her four grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family Thursday March 13, 2025 from 5 to 7 pm at FitzPatrick Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Rd. Abington. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday March 14, 2025 at the Cathedral Bailica of SS. Peter and Paul 18th St. and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Philadelphia. at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. Contributions in her memory to the charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
