Dorothy D.
Goodman
Aug 24, 1928 — Aug 1, 2026
Blue Bell, PA
GOODMAN (nee Dagostino), DOROTHY, age 97, of Blue Bell, formerly of Abington, PA, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Herman Goodman. Loving mother of Carol Swenson (Richard), the late Susan Weakley (the late Robert), Wayne Goodman (Katie), and Denise Zeman. Cherished grandmother of Robert, Dakota, Zachary, and Elliot.
Born on August 24, 1928, Dorothy spent the last 10 years at Normandy Farms Estates, and nearly the rest of her entire life in Abington, where she and Herman built a warm and welcoming home. Married on September 23, 1950, they shared more than 60 years of partnership, devotion, and family life. Dorothy was known for her generosity, her love of cooking, and her joy in gathering people together. Her kitchen was always full, her table always open, and her meals always made with care.
Some of Dorothy’s happiest memories were at the family’s Ocean City, New Jersey beach house, where she welcomed her children, their friends, and even unexpected guests with ease and warmth. She continued her trips to the shore even after Herman’s passing, packing her cooler, taking the back roads, and spending time with her beach friends.
Dorothy embraced both her Italian heritage and her husband’s traditions, cooking everything from traditional Italian meals to homemade matzo ball soup to elaborate holiday meals. She cherished the sparkle of a few fine pieces of jewelry, which brought her joy and which she lovingly passed on to her family.
Dorothy’s life was defined by love, hospitality, and the quiet strength of her spirit. Her warmth and her sparkle will remain with all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Monday August 24, 2026, 11:00 am at Normandy Farms Estates where a luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to PAN Foundation P. O. Box 411439 Boston, MA 03341-1439, www.panfoundation.org or to Normandy Farms Estates, 9000 Twin Silo Drive, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
