Dorothy Holliday Gerlach, longtime resident of Huntingdon Valley, PA, more recently of Southampton, PA, died peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2024. She was 96 years old.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Christian Gerlach, Jr., who died in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Katherine A. Parsons (Ken).
She was the daughter of the late John Carter Holliday and Dorothy Connelly Holliday. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, John P. and William F. Holliday.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Wyncote, PA, she was a graduate of Cheltenham High School in 1945 and attended Hood College, Frederick, MD. She accompanied her parents to post-war Germany for several years during the U.S. Army's rebuilding of Europe.
After dedicating her life to raising her five sons, she and Carl enjoyed their early retirement years traveling to many parts of the world with the 39RS group from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Abington, PA.
More recently, she enjoyed eight active years living happily at Southampton Estates in Southampton, PA.
She is survived by her five sons, Carl C. III (Patricia), David H. (Carol), William B. (Theresa), Mark C. (Patricia), and Paul S.
She is survived by twelve grandchildren, Casey (Erin), Anne, Corey, William (Kristen), Mark, Kim (Joe), Jill, Michael (Taylor), Victoria (Jackson), Lindsey, Tyler, and Lauren. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Grace and Brady Parsons, Harper, Kendall, Cruz and Amelia Gerlach, Joey and Ava Feriozzi, Theo Gerlach as well as several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Wednesday March 20, 2024 at 12 Noon at Holy Trinity Church, 2086 Parkview Ave. Abington, PA where her family will receive friends from 10:30 until service time. Burial will be held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA.
The funeral service will be live streamed at www.holytrinity.net starting at Noon on Wednesday March 20.
