Obituary

With deep sorrow and regret, we announce the passing of Alfred C. Seymour, a

beloved son, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. We gather that we

may acknowledge and share in the blessing that his life was to us and the heartbreak

that his demise brings. In sharing the joy and the heartbreak together on this day, we

fervently pray that the heartbreak be diminished and the joy of his life be reminisced

crystal clear always.

Alfred C. Seymour, known to most as Big Al was 65 years of age when he fell into the

deep sleep of death on August 9th, 2026. He was born on October 5th, 1960 to the late

Paul D. Seymour (whose memory we will always cherish) and to his surviving mother,

Margaret J. Seymour in the quaint town of South Boston, VA.

Alfred studied the Bible and learned that Jehovah God is the true and living God. He

attended Bacon District Elementary School in the beautiful community of Saxe, VA.

After moving to Philadelphia, PA. he attended Fulton Middle School in the Germantown

neighborhood. Upon moving to Montgomery County, PA., he attended and

graduated from the Abington School District. He was successful in many fields but the

one that he loved the most was that of cooking. He was truly a chef in his own right.

Anyone who has ever tasted his cooking knew that he deliciously prepared everything.

It didn’t matter if it was an omelet, pinto beans or a juicy T-bone steak, he did it right!

He was a hard worker with a good heart.

Those who knew Alfred knew him as a very caring and friendly person. Like his

father, he had a big heart and loved his family. He also thought highly of his friends.

He never met a stranger because he always made them a friend. Alfred did not carry

himself with an air of importance but rather he was a very humble person. That goodness

shined as bright as the sun in his love for only child, his son Andre (affectionally

known to all as Grump).

Alfred will be sorely missed as he rests in peace until the resurrection. His memory

will be cherished forever by his son Andre L. Ballard (Joy-Temple Hills, MD), his

grandchildren: Andre Jr., Erica, Ashley, Erin, Jordan and Andrew. Alfred also leaves

to cherish his memory, his mother, Margaret J. Seymour (Durham, NC), his siblings:

Lenora J. Seymour (Willow Grove, PA), Janice L. Seymour (Warrenton, NC), Larry D.

Seymour (Leah), (Durham, NC) and Quintina Seymour-Miller (Brooks), (Cary, NC).

Also, left to mourn his demise are his four loving aunts: Catherine Gayles (Drakes

Branch, VA.), Ella Seymour-Scott (Harold), (Saxe, VA), Mattie L. Seymour (South

Boston, VA.) and Ellen H. Luck (North Wales, PA.) along with a plethora of nephews,

nieces' cousins and friends.
