Obituary for Vincent J. Morasco

Vincent J. Morasco, Jr., age 62, passed away July 27, 2020 surrounded by his wife and children.

Vince was the beloved husband of Mary Ann, who cared for him through many health struggles. Their love was enduring, in sickness and in health, for nearly 39 years. Vince was a devoted father to their two children, Vincent and Marie, who inherited his signature head of hair but not his green thumb. As an avid gardener, Vince enjoyed spending time outside, tending to his many flourishing flowers and plants around the home he dutifully maintained with pride. He was the king of his castle.

A car enthusiast, Vince spent his career working in auto body shops, managing repairs and ensuring every customer was sent home in a safe vehicle, good as new and ready for the road. He could diagnose a car's problem just by listening to the weird sound it was making, or taking it for a quick spin around the block. He could tell you the year, make and model of any vehicle, and he looked back fondly on the many different cars he owned throughout his life. His mechanical mind earned him his reputation as Mr. Fix-It. No matter what was broken, Vince could repair it.

Vince had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor. He was always ready with a joke, many of which are not fit to print here. A bit of a troublemaker, Vince loved fireworks and all summer long, he looked for opportunities to set a few off. No surprise, his family just discovered some recently purchased fireworks in the passenger seat of his car, essential supplies for a fun July night. He loved clocks and was a certified clockmaker. He had a knack for getting tricky timepieces running like new, and if you were ever over the house at the stroke of midnight, you know what it's like to hear the fruits of his labor—dings, rings and chimes from his extensive clock collection.

Every year in December, Vince would take his kids to the Poconos to pick out a fresh Christmas tree. After walking through rows and rows of Douglas firs along the mountainside, he'd find one that was full and well balanced, and he'd declare that it was the perfect tree. No matter how his health was suffering, Vince maintained this tradition every year until last year. Vincent, Marie and their spouses plan to continue it in his memory.

Vince is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (nee Martin); his children Vincent (Theresa) and Marie Kubit (Ryan); his siblings Christopher (Fran), Pauline Bonitatis (Steve), David (Dottie) and Mary Gawinowicz; many nieces and nephews; and a grandbaby-to-be.

Vince is preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Vincent.

Due to pandemic restrictions, services and interment will be private for the family. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be planned in the future.
