Thomas Forbes Bur
Abington, PA – Thomas F. Bur, 83, died on January 19, 2020. He was born on March 2, 1936 to Lawrence J. and Alice Bur.
Happily born and raised in Philadelphia, Tom graduated from St. John Baptist HS in 1954. Following high school, he attended LaSalle College graduating in June 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts. Tom served in the Army following college before transitioning to a position with IBM as a programmer. He worked for IBM for 30 years, being able to retire at age 52. Tom had a passion for music and sports, particularly horse racing and Philadelphia sports teams.
Tom was married to his wife Betsy for over 40 years before her passing in 2004. Together they raised 3 children, Brian Bur, Anne Galios, and Lauren Romano. In addition to his children, Tom is survived by his five grandchildren, Maya, Noah, Thomas, Logan, and Gabriel; his daughter-in-law, Virginia; his sons-in-laws, Jeff and Rich; his brother, Larry; and his nieces and nephews, Sarah, Cindy, LJ, and Dave.
A celebration honoring his life will be held from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. with a short tribute beginning at 1:00 p.m. on February 1st, 2020 at Parx Racing in the Cotillion Room, 3001 Street Road, Bensalem, PA. Memorial Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association at https://www.diabetes.org/
