Robert H. Fitzsimmons, age 85, passed away Friday December 18, 2020. A longtime resident of Abington, Robert was born in Philadelphia to the late Patrick and Mary (nee Gallagher) Fitzsimmons, he later graduated from North Catholic High School and LaSalle College. “Mr. Fitz” was a dedicated member of the North Catholic High School family for over 50 years. At North Catholic he was a business teacher, a department chairman, he maintained the school grounds, and will forever be a Falcon. Mr. Fitzsimmons was devoted to his family, his faith, and to aiding the Carmelite Nuns. Robert was preceded in death by his late wife and mother of his children Mary Jane (nee Jamieson) Fitzsimmons. Robert was the loving husband of Maureen (nee Smyth) Fitzsimmons and loving father of Kevin Fitzsimmons (Sue Ann) and Laura Harte (Daniel), stepfather of Jen Stockl (Brandon) and John Martin (Katie). He was also survived by his sister-in-law Teddy Fitzsimmons. He was the devoted Pop Pop of Jaclyn, Jamie, Andrew, Mollie, Emmie, Maeve, Cade and the late Timmy. Robert was preceded in death by his brother John Fitzsimmons and his wife Terry Fitzsimmons, his brother Patrick Fitzsimmons, his best friend and sister Dolores Braun and her husband Don Braun. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the North Catholic Alumni Association 2700 Rhawn St. Philadelphia, PA 19152 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
