Obituary for Mel Sirkin

SIRKIN, Mel, of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, died peacefully at Abington Hospital on the evening of February 2, 2023, after a month-long battle with Covid-19 and other illnesses. He was 83. He will be deeply missed by his three sons Craig (Wendy), Jeff (Michele), and Mike (Renae), his former wife Tina, and his “five beauties” – grandchildren Isaac, Sarah, Brady, Cooper, and Savannah.
Mel was born on January 7, 1940. He grew up in Buffalo, New York and graduated from SUNY Buffalo in 1963. He worked as an engineer for General Motors before attending Georgetown University Law Center, graduating in 1968. He spent the remainder of his working life practicing law and in various business ventures in the Washington D.C., New York, and Philadelphia areas.

He devoted his time and attention to his three kids and their families. He loved any chance to spend time together, whether for a graduation, a wedding, a birthday, or just to share a meal or watch a game. He loved his sons' wives like they were his daughters and delighted in his grandchildren, whom he called “the treasure of my life.”

Memorial services will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association.
