Judith Ann Paul (née Savaiano), age70, a resident for many years of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away in the afternoon of October 15th, 2018.

Judy was born on April 11, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to Elizabeth J. and David J. Savaiano. She attended Maternity B.V.M. grade school in Philadelphia, and later graduated from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School in 1966.She graduated with honors from Rosemont College in 1970, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After graduation, Judy was an English teacher at Lower Moreland High School when shemet John T. Paul, an Advertising Sales Manager. Not long after in 1972, they married and would go on to build a beautiful life and family together.

Judy, a brilliant student herself, was a caring educator, an inspired creative writer (she ghost wrote many of her four siblings’ college papers),and quite the actress. She won the best actor award her senior year at Rosemont for her performance in the musical Finian’s Rainbow. Judybrought the same creativity and energy to her children and their education. While Chris and Laura attended St. David School in Willow Grove, PA, she servedas Home & School Association president, founded the enrichment and speech and debate programs, and stage directed(not always in an official capacity) multiple Christmas pageants and talent shows. She capped this chapter of her career mentoring the LaSalle High School Forum to two Philadelphia Catholic League championships.

After her children were grown she returned to teaching and worked as an English tutor and counselor at Penn State University, Abington. She served as a trustee on LaSalle College High School board of directors. In 2003,Judy was the recipient of Rosemont College’s highest honor, The Cresset Award, given annually to an outstanding individual who has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting values and to supporting education for all people.

Her wit was her calling card. It was quick, entertaining, and enjoyed by everyone who knew her. But above all else, Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. The health, happiness and wellbeing of her family were the driving forces in her life, and her friends were lifelong and joyfully dedicated.
