Obituary for James R. "Jim" Blickley

James Robert “Jim” Blickley, age 68, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022, at home in Willow
Grove. He was the son of Jack Blickley and Gloria Blickley. He was born August 15, 1954 in
Abington, Pennsylvania. Jim was united in marriage to Joanne Giangiulio on September
8,1979 at Abington Presbyterian Church. They were blessed with two daughters, Lisa Marie
Russell and Lori Lynn Metroka.
Jim attended St. John of the Cross School in Roslyn, PA, and graduated from Bishop McDevitt
High School in 1972. Jim enjoyed all things trains, especially his HO model railroad, and also
magic tricks, card games, and his ride-on inventions. He was also an avid follower of the
Philadelphia Eagles. Pet peeves included empty ice cube trays, cell phones (which he
predicted would cause the downfall of the American society), and battling with saran wrap. He
was trained as a mechanic and worked for Johanna Farms Dairy as a tractor trailer mechanic.
He later became an employee at the North Hills Country Club, where he constantly made new
friends and entertained patrons with his wit and magic tricks.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joanne, his daughters and their husbands, Lisa and John and Lori
and Nick; eight grandchildren survive, Anna Russell, Isabelle Russell, Ruth Russell, Lily Russell,
Lydia Metroka, Max Metroka, Charlotte Russell, and Nico Metroka. He is survived by his
siblings, Barbara Flanagan, Jack Blickley (Libby), Janice Fuccella (Bob), and Richard Blickley
(Barbara). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Fitzpatrick
Funeral Home in Abington, PA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at
