Obituary for Herman J. "Hank" Heim Jr.

HEIM, Herman J. Jr., “Hank” of Abington, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 25, 2021 at the age of 92. Preceded in death by his wife Edna Mae (nee Lee) Heim, he is survived by his beloved partner Catherine Falabella.

Hank’s career was in Information Technology. He worked for IBM and for several commercial firms as a manager of computer services. He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and was an enthusiastic supporter of the university. He enjoyed watching the Hawks play basketball, and was also a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

Hank was cherished by his family. He was preceded in death by his oldest son John (wife Nancy), and survived by his three other children, William (wife Sheri), Anne (husband Jeffrey), and youngest son Paul. He is also survived by two of his sisters, Emma Rumble and Lois Kuscin. Hank was blessed with grandchildren Theresa, Helen, Donald, Brian, Carolyn, Kimberly, Jillian, Ari, Ashley, Jacquelyn, Kellie, Stephanie, and Heather. His great grandchildren are Courtney, Zachary, Melanie, Carter, Isabella, Ashlynn, and Jasmine. He also has a great-great grandchild, Cashton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Herman J. Heim, Sr. Scholarship Fund, payable to St. Joseph’s University, 5600 City Ave. Phila., PA 19131. Services will be on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10 AM. It will be private due to Covid-19 concerns but the mass will be live-streamed for those who would like to participate in that manner. A memorial celebration will be scheduled in the summer or fall once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
