Obituary for Emanuel John "Manny" Golemis

Emanuel John Golemis passed away on September 16th, 2020, in Abington, Pennsylvania at the age of 87. Manny was born in 1933 in the Bronx, New York, to John and Georgia Golemis. He attended City College of New York, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 1954. As a member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps, he served two years in Korea following graduation, then returned to New York City, where he took a job at Westinghouse, first as an electrical engineer, and subsequently, after he earned his M.B.A, as the manager of international sales for the Caribbean and South America. After nearly 2 decades at Westinghouse, he worked briefly at GTE Sylvania and Phoenix Engineering, then was founder and president of Cimmaron International until his retirement at age 84. As part of his work, he traveled extensively, and provided power and electrical infrastructure to countries around the world. Also for pleasure, he traveled extensively, accompanied by his wife, Marion Golemis; together, they were frequent visitors to Japan, Korea, Okinawa, and countries throughout Europe. He maintained a life-long interest in military and ancient history, and had an exceptional breadth of knowledge across many fields. He was notable for a generous disposition, a constant good humor, general wisdom about humanity, and an indomitable spirit in the face of troubles. He is survived by his brothers, Denis and Timothy Golemis, and their children; his daughter, Erica Golemis; and his grandson, Ian Emanuel Ochs. He will be missed.
