Rydal —
Andrew R. DeCarlo, 90 of Ry- dal, (formerly of Ashland) passed away peacefully at home on Au- gust 4, 2022.
Andy was born on May 22nd, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Frank and Mary (Shafari) DeCar- lo. He married Catherine Modaf- feri on March 1,1952. The family has lost a wonderful man.
Andy grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he met the love of his life Cathy. Andy served in the Unit- ed States Army and followed his father’s footsteps in the enve- lope business. An opportunity to manage and help build Tri- State Envelope brought him and his family to Ashland, PA. Andy embraced country life by becom- ing an avid golfer, bridge player, bowler, gardener (mostly toma- toes not zucchinis) and a high school sports enthusiast. When the Spartans weren’t playing, he and Cathy could be found at Fountain Springs burning up the dance floor. Andy retired to Myr- tle Beach, SC. After the loss of his soulmate Cathy, Andy moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where he delighted-in golfing at Bear Lakes and dining out with friends, while enjoying and gloat- ing about the sunny weather and perfect breezes.
Andy will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a loyal friend. He was loved by the employees of Tri-State and by all who knew him. No event or family gathering was complete without Andy’s stand-up come- dy routine with his expert timing and delivery followed by his own raucous laugh.
Those that will miss him most (many who would not be here without him) include his son Frank DeCarlo and his wife Rosi- ta, daughter Marie McDowell and her husband Gary, daughter Lisa Mlinac and her husband Mike, daughter Andrea Welsh and her husband Rob, his 12 grandchil- dren - Lindsey (Sean), Tristan (Logan), Andrew, Joseph, Char- lie (Jenn), Jenna, Anthony (Dan- ielle), Christopher (Haley), Katie, Anne Marie (Shawn), Gregory, Zach, and his 11 great-grandchil- dren - Macey, Paitra, Josephine, Nicholas, Anthony, Vincent, Emmy, Elijah, Fae, Ives, and Jessa. A private family service will be held. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital.
